The Where in Melbourne December Puzzle Revealed.

This picture is of the Campbell Arcade Sign on Flinders Street, opposite the Flinders Street Railway Station.

Though planning began as far back as the 1920s, construction only sped up with the coming of the 1956 Olympic Games. By 1954, pedestrians could access Flinders Street Station via the subway, entering via steps from Degraves Street in what is still called (though many are unaware) the Campbell Arcade.

Today, the subway is basically untouched since its opening. The original light pink tiles coat the walls, handsome iron signs point the direction of Degraves Street and Flinders Street, and even the old sign pointing to the telephone booth room is there.

Hidden underground just outside Flinders Station, Campbell Arcade is home to quirky fashion, art and Melbourne's only dedicated zine shop. You might know it as the Degraves Street Subway. It can be accessed via a stairwell amongst the coffee shops lining Degraves Street.

Home of zine culture in Melbourne, the Sticky Institute is something of a centrepiece to Campbell Arcade. Sticky is staffed by volunteers, who are all too happy to help you work the photocopier to distribute your own zines or create badges on the badge machine. Since 2001, they have been a space for creative types and enthusiasts of moderately-priced zines.
